Reading picture books with an adult helps young children to internalize some basic skills and concepts essential for true literacy. Creating a book about your child can be a fun way to connect them to the story! If family pictures are included, this book can be very helpful in understanding who they are in relation to those they love. You may want to include the lyrics to some of their favorite songs, write their name so they can become familiar with how it is written, or make a short poem or rhyme to help them remember something special.
